Kids’ Birthday Books

We have a birthday coming up soon, so I am working on the next in our kids’ birthday books series!  I do this for our kids each year, and I cherish it! We finalize and order these books after each birthday, to look back over the past year and record milestones, favorites, and special events.

Pictures Tell a Story

MyPublisher, Inc.Because we don’t regularly print pictures, unless we are using them in a frame or for a special project, all of these pictures that we take do not go anywhere other than on a screen!  I make these books so we can look back and see how much he grew in the past year, interests, and even special stories that impact his life.  Because the years pass by so quickly, I don’t want us to miss it!  They are also my way of “holding on” to special artwork and writings.  I take a picture of the artwork and include it either as a background  or a photo.  Then, for most I discreetly discard the original.  The artwork goes along great with the story I am trying to tell of their lives!

These kids we are blessed to raise- I’m talking about you and me- are a gift!  Each year we unwrap the gift of who God made them to be!  These books…they tell that story in a beautiful way.  Also, these books help our kids see that they are made uniquely by God. They can see that they are works in progress, and God is not finished with them yet.  Each child’s life is a story waiting to be told!  I love using photography to tell that story, and these birthday books are a gift I love to give.  Read more about how I put them together HERE.

Freezer Recipes

Freezer recipes

Freezer Recipes are LIFESAVERS for me and our family!!  A freezer meal is ideal for nights that you know ahead of time will be busy.  You can pull it out the night before, let it defrost, and cook it on the night you need it.  Just add a side, bread, salad, or whatever, and you are good to go!  I try to make up freezer meals at least once per quarter, and when I do, I make 6-9 dishes at a time.  This seems to keep our family afloat through the busy days (and doesn’t overcrowd the freezer).  These meals taste amazing to me, maybe because I haven’t been slaving over the preparations!  I will add to this page over time, so check back for new recipes. I am always trying new freezer recipes, because they are a wonderful thing!  A meal waiting in the freezer keeps you on budget, on track health-wise, and fits into your schedule.  Truly a win all around!  Moms’ Priority’s freezer meals page is HERE.

Make Family Meals Priority

Life gets busy when school and activities start back, and it is difficult to make family meals priority.  After school activities and sports can keep us out of the house and disconnected from each other more than we wish.  We have to be intentional with our evenings, and make family time a priority. The benefits are there, in so many ways, from social to academic to healthy!  Read on HERE to be convinced that this is something we all need to prioritize now!  All families have different limitations that make this hard today!  We share ways to make it happen that hopefully will help your family stay close and healthy.

Father’s Day Love

Father’s Day is June 19, and it is the perfect time for wives and kids to express your love and appreciation to the one who leads by loving.  I read recently that the definition of “leading” is “loving,”  meaning that you love so much that you are willing to serve and do the hard things for those you care about.  A true leader loves his or her people, whether in business or at home.  In our family, we have been incredibly blessed with an amazing father and two amazing grandfathers who lead by loving.  Sometimes that love expresses itself through discipline, and other times through playing rough or being silly with the kids.  Sometimes it’s by working incredibly hard, or doing the hard things so that we are all better off.  Father’s Day is a time to let dads know that we notice, even though they may not realize all that they do.  We want the dads in our life to know how much they are appreciated, so we’ve put together an idea page for Father’s Day gifts.  These are fun gift ideas for dads to relax and enjoy!   Mom’s Priority has also pinned a ton of ideas for homemade father’s day gifts to make with kids.

Online Reading this Summer

There are so many great sources for online reading this summer!  As testing is going on in many schools around the country, parents and teachers are hoping that their children are well prepared and have acquired the reading skills needed to excel on their tests and be promoted to the next grade.  More than that, though, we want our kids to have a love of reading, so that throughout their lives, they have endless opportunity that is afforded when a person can read, comprehend, and use the information gathered to change their lives.  Good reading skills can certainly be life-changing!  This summer, we are going to be spending time in good books- what about you?  Read more HERE.
