Birthday Books

Something I have done for our kids since they were born is to make them birthday books after each birthday, to look back over the past year and record milestones, favorites, and special events. Because we don’t regularly print pictures, unless we are using them in a frame or for a special project, all these pictures that we take are not going anywhere other than on a screen! I make these books so we can look back and see how much he grew in the past year, what he was interested in, and even special stories that impact his life. Because the years pass by so quickly, I don’t want us to miss it. They are also my way of “holding on” to special artwork and writings. I take a picture of the artwork and include it either as a background or a photo. Then, for most I discreetly discard the original. The artwork goes along great with the story I am trying to tell of their lives!

So I make these books, and my go to software and development company has always been MyPublisher. I have made over 10 books using their program, and have been very pleased with the quality of the books and the ability to customize completely. Maternity clothes… One of the things that drives me crazy about being pregnant is having to buy an entire new wardrobe for only a few months! Each season and stage of pregnancy requires different clothes. Not to mention, you may not feel like, or have the energy to, shop around to find the best fitting clothes at the best price. So, here are some easy solutions to finding maternity clothes on the cheap:

Shop online. Period. From your phone, computer, or tablet- it’s just easier and more comfortable than finding a store and finding the time to go shop. Take measurements if at all possible to ensure a good fit; however, know that most retailers that have both online and brick and mortar stores will allow you to return in the store.
Try consignment! You are not looking for investment pieces, just clothes to wear out for this season you are in. So, brand new may not matter to you. I have heard great things about ThredUP, an online consignment store with high quality brands.

As moms, like the Proverbs 31 Woman, we always looking for ways to make our dollars go farther, in the easiest and most efficient way possible. This sounds ridiculous, but recently I tried out Amazon.com for dog food for our yellow lab. Ridiculous, because it seems strange having dog food delivered. However, this big bag of dog food was delivered to my garage door for $10 less (20% less) than I usually pay at our local pet store ! 30 pounds of Science Diet dog food delivered, and I didn’t even have to move it more than 10 feet! I am clearly getting spoiled by free delivery, saving money, and almost on demand. With Amazon Prime, our dog’s food was delivered within their 48 hour window. Another perk of buying dog food or other home supplies, toiletries, etc online is making a list, saving it, and accessing it to easily reorder (if you do not participate in Subscribe and Save).
